Completion of Coastal Protection Port Project in Platamonas, Pieria

A major coastal protection project in Platamonas, Pieria (Municipality of Dion–Olympus) has been successfully completed, addressing ongoing shoreline erosion and strengthening the resilience of the coastal zone.

The works included:

  • Construction of 7 submerged breakwaters
  • Beach nourishment along a 1,150 m. stretch
  • Reinforcement of 4 existing breakwaters with a crest elevation increase of 0.8 m.
  • Extension of the two terminal groynes (left and right) by 25 m.

The project, with a total budget of €3.5M, was carried out under particularly demanding conditions, with strong wave action and adverse weather, requiring a high level of technical expertise and effective coordination.
Its implementation contributed significantly to the stabilization of the coastline, the protection of critical infrastructure, and the enhancement of the area’s tourism activity.
