Completion of a Port Infrastructure Project in Symi

A major port infrastructure project has been completed at the “Petalo” area of the new port of Symi, with a total budget of €1.2M.

With the aim of enhancing the island’s operational efficiency and transport connectivity, the project has actively contributed to strengthening tourism and commercial activity, creating new development opportunities for the island.

The project involved the construction of new quay walls, enabling the approach of Ro-Pax (Ro/Ro – Passenger) vessels operating on the Piraeus – Rhodes route, while improving both passenger and commercial services.

Project challenge: The implementation of the works was carried out under demanding conditions, as construction activities progressed alongside the uninterrupted circulation of pedestrians and vehicles.

Scope of works:
• Construction of a boat launching ramp
• Development of a dedicated berthing area for cruise ships
• Increased berthing capacity for tourist vessels
• Improved access and provision for stern berthing of large day-cruise vessels
• Electromechanical works (E/M installations)
